Felted Pekingese and Wall Art

Hello Everyone. Today I wanted to share with you my new Needle Felting experience. I know  its not a card. I'm so sorry to the ones that stopped by my blog to see a new card creation. Trying to do two crafts on one blog isn't easy.  Is it time to start two blogs??? One for Card Making and one for Needle Felting? Something I am thinking about.

I made my cute little Pekingese from a kit I bought on line. I choose him because I thought he would be the easiest to make. Easy was important because I have zero experience in making 3 D animals. Since making my dog, I have found a craft shop that teaches how to make a small bear over in Ft Worth. I'm thinking I will take the class to see how its suppose to be done. The classes are pricey so I'm still on the fence about making the commitment.

I think his muzzle is to big for the small dog. So I'm still working on portions and getting them right. Over all for my first time to complete a 3D animal........ I'm happy with it.

I'm also working on an abstract pillow or wall art. I'm not sure what it will be in the end.
I only have the foundation laid and felted. So much more I want to add to embellish it.

My next post will be some paper  lanterns  I am making for a valentine party. My church home group is throwing a big party for our local nursing home we have adopted. I am making a few things to decorate the tables. Ill show them to you on my next post. Ive already posted about the banners I made.
Thank you for stopping by.

Not a card but close.. Valentine Banners

Hello Card Markers.  I've missed you!

Welcome to my blog. I know ....I know I haven't posted a card in awhile. I have gotten several emails saying you love my felting but you really want some cards too.

So....today I am posting some Valentine Banners. I know they are not cards but they are pretty close. I have been making banners for our church home group. We are planning a big party for a local nursing home that we have adopted. I will share more picture of the other party decorations when they are complete.
Here is the first banner.
This banner was made using my Cricut. I still love my Cricut even though my felting machine is trying to steal my heart. I cut the pennants at 11.5 inches in red  card stock, 6 times. They are cut from the Pretty Pennants Cartridge, page 9 and 10. I cut the white heart pennant at 11.5 inches also. I backed the white pennant with a red pennant. The letters where cut from the Storybook Cartridge at 6 inches. This was very simple and fast to make. I think every party needs a banner. I strung it all together with white ribbon.

Here is the second one. I really like this one. A playing card pennant.
One of the ladies in our group saw on Pinterest  (got to love Pinterest) they were using playing cards to make banners. I took that idea and make it HUGE. The cards are 5.5  x 8.5.  I  just took  8.5 x 11 sheet of card stock and cut it in half. I rounded the corners with a corner rounder. The numbers were cut with Storybook also at 2 inches. The hearts were cut with my Fuse and a Spillbinders Classic Scalloped Heart. I strung it all together with red and white ribbon.

As is everything I do, this was a very simple project to put together. We are waiting to decide how much room there will be to string this along a wall at the home. Most likely I will be making a couple more to fill in that wall. But as easy and fun as this one was to make. I wont mind making a couple more.

Let me know what you guys have been up to. I love hearing about your projects too.
Thanks for stopping by.

Mooning Duck and Flat Needle felting

Hello Everyone!!! So glad you had time to stop by today. I made a video showing how I made a flat needle felted bird. I plan to make a quilt and make  all the squares with felted birds. Its a simple block but I really enjoyed making it.

I also shared with you my mooning duck. He's really adorable and I hope you enjoy the video.

Oh yeah, for some reason my camera filmed the video in black and white. I'm still working on understanding my new camera. My son says that even a 5th grader could use it....hmmmmm whats he implying?   lol
Have a great week

White Swan Needle Felting

A Needle Felting video..

Hello Everyone. I have finally made another needle felting video. There I have made a
3-d swan. This came from a book I got from Amazon. I hope you learn something from this video. I am learning so much about needle felting and I am LOVING it.

I got my felting machine and I am having a blast. I plan to do a video on the machine. Sort of a review about the Simplicity felter. I had gotten the Janome 725 but i did not like it. So that was returned and I ordered the Simplicity 12 needle felter. This was a better choice for me.
Enjoy the video.

Needle Felting Projects In The Works

Merry Christmas Eve everyone. I pray  you all are safe and enjoying a great time with your family. We will be heading to church soon to celebrate the birth of our Lord. This is a precious time at my house.

I have been busy with work and christmas  but I have also been playng....
working on my needle felting projects. I have one wall hanging about ready to be machine needle felted.  My machine will be deliver on Thursday. I cant wait to get that machine  up and running!
Here is my first project.  Im doing a wall hanging. I love the vibrant colors against the black. It is just tacked down for the moment. There will be a few changes but over all I like the color combination and the placements. I plan to add a few more leaves and add some more dimension.

I likened my wall hanging to a quilt I saw on Pinterest.
Here is a picture of the  original quilt. She sells the pattern for the quilt. If your interested, I have included her link. She has alot of wonderful designs on her web site and blog. I loved them all. I used sizzix dies to make my wall hanging.
Oh my!http://www.materialobsession.com.au/epages/mama12093.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/mama12093/Products/%22Hooterville%20-%20Pattern%22

Here a few more things I want to use for  practice. I'm sure there will be a learning curve. So I have several things ready to play with before I touch my wall hanging with the needle felting machine.
felt door

bird and vines

wreaths

Bird.
I hope to use this in a wool needle felted quilt. I have every big plans for me and my new obsession!
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!!!

I wanted to stop in and show you my favorite pic from Christmas 2012. I know what your thinking but Christmas is still a few days away. But we had to open our presents early since my grand daughter is going out of town to spend time with her dad tomorrow. See my post yesterday and you will see I got my christmas present early too. And I loved it.

Kimmie had a great Christmas too. She had tons of presents under the tree. Barbies, barbies and more barbies, a Kindle, tons of girls stuff and one present way in the back that took her by complete surprise.

All summer long she has asked for a mermaid tail. Not just any mermaid tail but an actual working mermaid tail. Where does one buy a mermaid tail??? I hadden a clue....So I made her one. This is the  happiness I have ever seen this 6 year old.

Christmas is so magical when your 6. And really magical when your a Grandma.
Have the best Christmas ever!!! I am so blessed.

New Years 2013 Card

Happy New Year 2013
Looks like its that time again. Time to welcome in a new exciting year! It's also time for me to be the designer for the CAD blog. If you came over from CAD to see the card I designed today.... Thank you! I hope you make  a few of these for yourself and  the ones you love.

We all are expecting an exciting new year in 2013. This card would be a good way to let someone
know your ready to welcome the new year in with great joy.

Here's  how I made this card.

I used some blue mirror paper for my front mat.  Then I cut my martini glass and the word cheers from the cricut cart,  Designers Calendar.  The glass and cheers come as one cut from this cart. This is an oldie but a goodie cart. There are so many great cuts on this cart.

I cut the glass/cheers twice. Once in the grey card stock  at 4.50" and again in red glitter paper. I cut away the "glass" and glued the glittered "cheers " on top of the grey "cheers". I used a green marker to color in my olives.  I used some foam tape to pop up the cheers/glass. The  2013 was also cut from the same red glitter paper. I used a Tim Holts die to cut the numbers. They are about 1.5 "

The balloons were cut from The Hoot and Holler cart. I cut the balloons at  3". I  cut away the tail's that were on the balloons.  I used some acetate strips to hold up my balloons, inside my pop up. I wanted to see the tops of the balloon's while the card was closed. So I made the strips long enough to be seen at the top of my card. If you don't want your balloons to be seen before the card is open. Simply place the pop up lower inside your card.

Nowon to the inside

I have used a small pop up inside my card to hold my balloons. This is very easy to make and  then glue inside your card.

Fold your card stock (used same color as your card base. I used red here to show you how it will look). Cut the corner off. I used the measurements of 2.5 across the top and 3.5 down the spine. I scored the corner and glued it inside my card. I then cut strips of acetate and glued on the inside of the pop up. I glued my balloons to the acetate. I glued balloons to both sides of the acetate strips.
Thank you for stopping by. If you have any questions please email me. Sugarlite02@aol.com

If you haven't been over to the CAD blog. Please stop by there. On the CAD blog we post a new cart everyday 365 a year. There is always  some wonderful inspiration waiting for you.
