My BOOK ABOUT ME Album
Wow its a hot summer. I have spent my summer enjoying air conditioning . Anything but being outside. I have enjoyed more movies and bowling this summer than ever before. Anything inside out of the heat.
My BAM album
Over at Paper Phenomenon Kathy has put together a beautiful BAM album. Bam means Book About Me. I had already made my own BAM album. I started mine last year. Seeing Kathy's masterpiece made me want to finish mine up. I had shared mine with a friend. However during the shipping back and forth the album was damage. I never got around to fixing the damage or 100% completing it. I have now finished the album and I am very happy with it. My album is nothing like Kathy's masterpiece. I made mine from a paper bag album. I would not recommend this type of album for this project. My album ended up being 8 inches thick by the time I finished layering it with all the pictures and embellishments. Wow that's a lot for a simple paper bag album. It is not standing up to the wear and tear my album is getting and will get. To help this I have reinforced the inside of the bags to give them more strength. So I suggest you put in more thought than I did when starting your album. If your making a BAM album check out Kathy's wonderful BAM album (http://paperphenomenon.blogspot.com ) and follow her tutorial. I do plan to make a box for my album to keep it safe.
Here is the front cover on my BAM album. I will post a few pages to show you what I made. I will also share with you what I learned while making this album and what you need to keep in mind when making a BAM album. Its a very personal album. Mine is already filled with personal pictures and journaling. Some of the infomation in my BAM is too personal to share on this blog. I plan to pass mine on to my granddaughter. It is a wealth of information that your are sharing with your loved ones.
Here is what you need to keep in mind when making your own BAM
1. It is about you. Make the pictures and the jounrnaling about you.
2. Gather all the picture you can from your childhood to present. Pick out what pics that represent your life. The good, the bad and the ugly.
3. Put them in order of dates. Decide how many pages you will make. Pick your pictures you want to use.
4. Put all the pictures per page in envelopes. Write the date and the event on the envelope.
5. Put all the envelopes in a box. Pull out one envelope at a time and make that page. This way each page has its own thoughts, colors and personality. When you put the pages together you will be your life flip from year ( or event) to year ( or event). You don't want the pages to have the same color theme. You want it to be a collection of your thoughts and experiences.
6. Prepare yourself for a emotional ride. Especially if you included some sad and disappointing time's of your life in your BAM book. You will relive some of those moments.
I learned alot about myself during my making of my BAM album. The biggest thing I learned was it is easier to forgive others than it is to forgive myself.
Here are 5 pages from my BAM album. I could not show the interactive pages. All my jouarnals are done on 6x7 cardboard tags in between the pages of the paper bag album.
| This is my first page. It is my favorite Easter picture of me as a 4 year old child. |
| Happy moments of my daughter and I , as we rode my motorcycle. |
| Pictures of me throughout the years. I journal about how I felt at each point of my life that these pictures represent. |
Me.... still looking for my White Knight, I journal about how I feel about finding the prefect marriage and being single at 50. |
Pictures of my kids throughout their lives. I shrunk the picture's down to make them all fit. I journal about my feelings of motherhood, raising twins, adoption of my daughter and foster children. |

Video of my homemade Clip It Up Rack
Here is a video about a homemade clip it up rack I made for my craft room. I bought the shoe rack at Walmart. I also show you a 3 tier stand I made for my craft table. It's prefect to keep things off the table top. I'm always loosing my stamps or ribbon. The stand helps me keep them from being lost under ton of papers on my craft table. Let me know if you make one!

Carousel Step Card
| I made this one in Black and White . |
I made a video yesterday of this Circus card I made with a new cartridge. I picked this cart up at Walmart called Carousel. My Walmart had them all marked down to $29. When I picked it up I didn't have high hopes for this cart. I thought maybe one or two cuts were cute. BUT!!! once I got it home and started looking at it and thinking, What can I do with this? I started to believe I had a pretty good cart there. I made a center step card and it was prefect for this theme. This is a 6x6 card. I made it for our card swap at the end of July.
The center step card is cut at 5.5 x11
see video for scoring measurments
The circus is 1 inch
The carousel is 4 inches
The balloons are 3 inches
The video shows how simple this card is to cut and assemble.

No Cricut carts were used for this card
Aww, it feels good to be back in my craft room. I have been so off center this past week that there was zero energy to craft. I'm happy to report all things are back to normal. God is good!
This is a card I made this week for a dear friends daughter, Allison K. She is a beautiful teenager. This card will accompany a gift for her.
I made the card using zero cricut cartridges. It is a simply Z fold card with a couple 3x3 squares. Some MS punch butterflies and a stamp from my stash. The paper is DCWV in the Linen Closet stack and some random glitter paper I had to make the bF's. I hope she enjoys it. I had fun making it for her.

When does a week feel like a life time?
| A Birthday card for My brother James (Doodle) Mc. Who loves Trucks, Black Cats ,Gutiars and Texas. I left out beer, Waylon, Hank and Star Wars. Maybe next birthday! |
I feel like I have been gone not only from my craftroom but from my life forever. When does a week feel like forever? I think it does when your life gets an unexpected u-turn and you have to go through a black hole to get on the other side. You know, when your heading East and when you least expect it you look up and your heading West. Your confused but sure enough the sun is going down right in front of you. Not sure how you got there but the fact is you are there. So you have no choice but to except that your not going EAST. I have learned that sometimes when you try and try again to reach a destination but always come up short, there has to be a reason. If you are not on purpose making a ton on mistakes you cant continally
miss you goal. I learned this week that blind denial labeled faith is not what God had meant when he said "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matthew 21:22
I know that God is great and is good to me. I stand on that fact no matter how many u-turns I must take to get to the destination God has for me.This week I said goodbye to a person who meant more to me than I could ever find words to express. At that point I had to reminded myself that everything is done for the a glory of God. I pray at this moment that my life will be and always is in the perfect will of God.
Thank you for giving me this moment and letting me put my life into perspective. Now on to a happier moment in life.
In 1973 I was 14 years old. My mother was in her early 40's and my father almost 50. I had an older brother Billy and a younger brother Wayland. We were a happy little family. That year my parents were going to get the surprise of their life's. My mom was going to have another baby.
My youngest brother James was born on July 11 1973. We called him the 7-11 baby. As the baby he was spoiled beyond comprehension! He denies this but I know it to be true. I was there!!! Throughout the years we lost my oldest brother Billy when he was only 19, my middle brother Wayland was lost when he was only 26. My baby brother and I are all that is left of our siblings. So this birthday I want to say Happy Birthday to my brother with all my love. He has a talent for music. He plays a mean guitar and has a wonderful voice. I pray God keeps his safe and brings untold happiness to his door. I love you Doodle!!!!
I hope you enjoy your Texas truck guitar inspired card!
Now everyone go hug your siblings and all loved ones!!!
I made this card using a stamp and a cut from Everyday Paperdolls. I cut the truck at 2.5 inches. The card is a 5x7. The cat was cut from A Childs Year. The guitar and the wings are from a stamp set in my stash. The stamp was to big. So I stamped it on paper then scanned it into my computer. I made it a smaller size and reprinted it. I cut it out and colored it with chalk.
The stars were in a pack from Michael's. Paper was from my stash.
Thank you for reading my blog. Your comments are always welcomed.
Happy Crafting
